The Whittier Trust Company is an

company serving 170 different families
across the United States.  The Whittier
Trust Company seeks families looking
for the investment advice and superior
client service of a multi-family office.

History

Max Whittier came to California from Maine in the early 1900's, and he soon participated in a series of oil strikes.   He owned a major portion of an unsuccessful oil property that he and his partners then turned into a very successful real estate development.  The real estate development became the city of Beverly Hills.  These oil and real estate investments were the primary source of the family's wealth.

In 1935, the Whittiers established a family office to handle their personal and business matters.  The office was reorganized in 1989 as the Whittier Trust Company, which began to offer services to clients outside the family three years later.

The family office and the successor trust company have successfully employed careful investing and estate planning for over seven decades.  Today, the Whittier wealth continues to grow, despite having passed through several generations.
