Arlo G. Sorensen has been actively involved with various Whittier businesses since 1968. He is a former President of M. H. Whittier Corporation, which during his tenure was principally engaged in the operation and development of California oil properties, and of Whittier Energy Company, an oil and gas exploration company. Mr. Sorensen is a Certified Public Accountant who began his career at Haskins & Sells.
He has served as a member of the President's National Petroleum Council, director of the Western States Petroleum Association, president and director of the Independent Petroleum Agency, director of the Whittier Family private foundations, director and member of the Executive Committee of Scripps Memorial Hospital Foundation, and director of various other corporations including Litchfield Company of South Carolina, A-M Homes, San Juan Airlines and Aurora Productions Inc.
Mr. Sorensen received his bachelor's degree in 1964 from Brigham Young University and did post graduate work at Long Beach State University and UCLA. He is Chairman of the Independent Oil Producers Agency, and a member of several other organizations, including the AICPA, the St. Martin Land Company and Theta Oil and Gas. He is active in numerous organizations within the community including the Helen Woodward Animal Center, I Have a Dream and the Aquarium of the Pacific.
