Matt manages Whittier Trust’s West Los Angeles office and provides client advisory services to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. His expertise includes strategic and tactical estate and tax planning, charitable giving, investment management, valuation analysis, real estate, and family office solutions.

With 30 years of experience in financial planning, tax planning, private business valuation, and portfolio management, Matt helps clients solve complex issues and achieve their goals. Before joining Whittier Trust Company, he served as an Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Stonebridge Capital Management, a shareholder at Van Deventer & Hoch Investment Counsel, and a Research Associate at Economic Analysis Corporation.

Matt holds a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from Pomona College, where he was a Pomona Scholar and the recipient of the Lorne D. Cook Award in Economics. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts.

Beyond his professional life, Matt serves on the Board of The Collins & Katz YMCA and is a long-time member of the Jonathan Club. He is a passionate foodie who loves to travel, scuba dive, and spend time with his family and their dogs.
