Sam Kendrick

Sam Kendrick is a Vice President, Portfolio Manager with Whittier Trust, serving in the Pasadena, CA office. He designs investment solutions around each client’s specific needs with a focus on optimizing risk-adjusted returns, after taxes. Sam is co-portfolio manager on Whittier Trust’s Small and Mid-cap strategies. For Whittier Trust’s core large-cap equity strategies, Sam covers the Energy sector. He is a member of the Investment Committee at Whittier Trust.

Prior to joining Whittier Trust in 2017, Sam worked as an equity research analyst at Thornburg Investment Management. Sam received his MBA from UCLA Business School with an emphasis in Finance. He is a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Society of Los Angeles. He is a graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust School and received the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation. Before his career in finance, he wrote and developed TV pilots for sitcom producer Michael Borkow. Sam earned his bachelor’s degree at Yale University.

Outside of work, Sam is a board member of First Tee of Greater Pasadena and a board member of the Eagle Light Caretakers. He enjoys golfing, skiing, traveling and trying new restaurants, all activities that are more difficult with two young children.
